Christmas

I am due 25/11, although likely I might end up going a little earlier due to Gestational diabetes. I had planned because of all the unknowns to have Xmas at home with my partner (my parents live 30mins drive for context) but my mum doesn’t seem to understand why I’d want to do that and wants me to go there. But my point is I still feel like we will be getting into our routine and healing (I’ll be having a c-section) am I being the crazy one?

Every experience is different but by Christmas you may want to go and visit your family and have a day away from the house x

I’m due 28/11 and am not making any plans to go anywhere. My mum lives and hour and a half away and she might pop over for a few hours if I’m up to it otherwise we will be having our family Xmas the weekend after Xmas and I’ll host but very basic buffet food and no one will be staying with us.

Ps I have GD too! Is baby measuring big or small?! I have a scan on Thursday at 37 weeks and guessing conversations will be had then as to if baby needs to come early.

If you’re due 25 November but think you’ll go earlier then that’s about 5 weeks to Christmas, I felt normal about a week after my c section, so in terms of that you might be absolutely fine at 5 weeks, in terms of routine I didn’t find there was really a routine at 5 weeks just more feeding every few hours and they’d sleep in between not much going on, if you’re a first time mum It can obviously feel overwhelming the first few weeks and obviously don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with! I just wanted to let you know that by 5 weeks you’ll probably be doing good! Xx

If it makes you feel less stressed then you can always say you’ll stay home but if you feel Up to it then go to there’s for a few hours. We’ve also had abit of hassle over Christmas as we alternate it each year and this year is my husbands family. We said we would go there for Christmas Day and Boxing Day but not sleep over (we will have newborn and have a 2 year old) plus SIL with family and kids will also be staying so didn’t fancy the stress of being up all night feeding in a packed house trying to keep quiet. It sadly didnt go down very well at all MIL was not understanding or supportive even though we will still be with the family for two days. You have to do what’s best for you and your little family. At 5 weeks you’ll likely be feeling good so may well be up for it and there is unlikely to be any routine but you may still be getting into your stride if you’re breastfeeding. Don’t put stress on yourself

P.s also have GD in this pregnancy and can not wait to have some festive treats!!

I had my baby a week ago so slightly different situation but we are going to my mum's for Christmas with the baby so we don't have to cook etc with a new baby. My mum is 1hr and half away. As for a routine. I'm 2 weeks in and a routine seems like it's light years away. She's EBF so I don't think I'll have a routine!

@Rachel I have GD too I stopped all treats but for some reason small amount of chocolate or gu cheesecake don't spike me atall cxx

Thanks everyone - I think when I said routine I meant more just getting innit the swing of our new life (first time mum) getting used to breastfeeding etc I know routine will be months away 😂 all really helpful advice - will re approach it and take on some of your suggestions! ❤️ Baby is measuring big, and I am really looking forward to some treats, and wine 😂

@Sarah ooo gu cheesecake. So jealous! I’ve been having 85% dark chocolate, chocolate protein puddings and sugar free jelly with cream but not quite cutting it. I’m 38weeks now so the end is in site. I’ve bought a white Toblerone for my hospital bag 😆

@Rachel try the lemon one I managed half then put half away then next time had a whole one 😂😂 just make sure it's not after food I classed it as my snack 😂🙄 Toblerone I can have 2 triangle without going up atall 😂
