Can someone please help me out - work related - UK

You know when you start a new job & they ask about any holidays you've got booked & they've gotta let you take it/honour it cuz it was before you've joined with them? Is it the same if you're returning from maternity leave & what is that called? I'm returning this Thursday 🥹🔫🔫🔫& my birthday is next month & I don't wana work on my birthday, I'm away for Christmas plus I've got a concert booked for April. I work in the care sector btw. Do you think I can mention these on my return & they will have to honour it as they were booked before my return? 🫣

No it won’t work the same way unfortunately you’ll have to book them off the same way you would following your employers holiday request process and they’re entitled to decline them the same way they could normally x

@Yasmin fuuuck🥹😭😭.. That's very annoying lol. Thanks for letting me know x

There's no harm in trying. If you aren't sure, they might not be either, and they might let you skate by.

@Bonny oh yeah, I'll definitely mention it.

No it’s not the same. You’re still employed whilst on maternity leave so you should request holidays the exact same way as you would if you were physically in work. They absolutely do not have to honour it.
