Labour and birth

Hi guys, I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant and am getting more scared everyday about the labour and birth process, is there anything I can do to try and feel less scared about this process?

Have you tried hypnobirthing, I found that amazing for preparing me for all eventualities and keeping my mind calm. They either have a book or digital programme you can watch - highly recommend

I don’t think anything can really prepare you and make you feel less scared completely however i think trying to focus on the fact of what comes after birth (the baby) really helped me focus on the positive aspects of birth. Also hearing people’s birthing stories good and bad definitely helped me prepare as I didn’t go into it completely blind sided and gullible as i knew what could happen even the risks. I think the scary thing about labour is the unknown. Good luck hun 🤍 and congratulations x

Focus on the positive birth stories, remember every birth is different. Understand biomechanics of birth so that you know exactly what is happening to your body during labour.

There’s a website called positive birth stories! That can help. I also did antenatal classes with the r NCT, they were informative and it was good to get together with other mums who were doing through the same thing.
