Hunger in first trimester

Did anyone else constantly feel SO hungry in their first trimester? Everyone says they can’t eat/constantly feel or are being sick but I’m the opposite. The only time I feel nauseas is when I’m hungry which is often! I’m 10 weeks and have already put on 3kg, I can’t stop eating & all I want to eat is rubbish/takeout (anything home cooked makes me feel instantly full so I can’t finish it then I’m hungry again and eat crap) Everyone says their appetite goes up in the 2nd trimester so I’m dreading it! I am still going to the gym & getting my steps in every day but I’m getting really down about the weight I’m putting on

Have you had any scans yet? I am like this with twins! You’re doing well do keep getting steps in and be going to the gym, just trust your instincts x

I had a scan at 7 weeks so definitely just the one 😅 I’m just really getting down about putting extra weight on & feel so guilty but also can’t help it because I’m always hungry 😂😭

I think I’m just looking for reassurance that other people found the same in their first trimester but the hunger settled & they didn’t put on loads of weight throughout 😅 Also worried it will increase my chances of pre-eclampsia or gestational diabetes too! And if anyone has any tips to curb the hunger?

You could try lower calorie snacks eg rice cakes, ryvita, carrots and hummus, fruit, low calorie yoghurts etc…. But in the same, have def been eating more than I should have!

I was absolutely starving the first trimester 😂 Nothing could make me feel full but I found having healthy snacks often between meals helped me not think about feeling hungry and steered me away from eating lots of rubbish. It settled down afterwards 😁

@Jade glad to hear it settled for you! I’m praying for that 🙏🏼🙏🏼

@Sandy Greensill thank you! It’s so annoying because anything healthyish I just can’t seem to eat. I was used to a high protein diet prior as I train a lot but if I try eating chicken/protein yoghurts etc I just can’t finish them! But give me chicken nuggets/covered in breadcrumbs and I can’t stop 😂

This happened to me. I was so hungry all the time. But couldn’t eat normal food most of the time and craved takeaways. And I wasn’t sick either. But I didn’t put on a lot of weight. It did seem to settle down a bit in second trimester. But found eating when I was hungry and usually smaller more often definitely helped and also drinking milk/milkshakes seemed to curb my hunger for longer. If it helps you feel less guilty I binged on takeaways the whole first trimester, if have 4 a week 🫣, but I craved Chinese so. Definitely settled in the 2nd trimester. Just listen to what your body wants and indulge.

@charlotte thank you! At this rate the baby will come out looking like a double cheeseburger 😂😭 I’ve just done a food shop and thought about snacks so hoping I’ll have a better week! Eating less but more often sounds like what I need instead of bingeing xx

Cereal bars were a life saver in the middle of the night. I kept a snack stash in my bedroom drawers 🤣xx
