I'm worried about failing mine too. My friend, who's diabetic now, suggested that I stay away from anything sweet a night or two before the test. If I need a snack (and I definitely do before bed) to eat a protein, and a whole grain if I want it, type snack. Anything that's higher in sugar (white bread, fruit, etc) can spike the blood sugar, even the night before. So I guess, eat a balanced diet the day or two before to make sure your body isn't out of whack when you take the test
That stuff is WICKED sugary.
@Kyla I followed the same and even in general I do not eat sugary still :(
I didn’t fast with my first, but I was told to only eat protein and nothing 2 hours before so I had plain scrambled eggs and I Passed. Now I’m worried with my second because I’m Eating way too much sweets but my appointment is at 11 am so I will obviously need to eat something for breakfast. So I’ll probably just have plain scrambled eggs again. I hope I pass it 🥲
Did you just barely fail the 1 hr? It's not uncommon to fail the 1hr and pass the 3 hr That's what happened to me during my 1st pregnancy
@Florencia good luck!
@Kyla am praying to pass 3 hrs test.. I was so sure to pass the first time due to consuming less sugar in general. But did not and honestly still not sure why… crossing my fingers for 3 hr test…
Pregnancy does weird stuff to your body. It doesn't mean you'll end up being diabetic, even if you have GD. But think about what happens if you don't pass. If you don't pass, I believe all they do is monitor you more and have you adjust your diet, which sounds like it wouldn't be a big life change for you if you're already eating fairly healthy. So, breathe and relax. If it happens, it happens, and you'll work with your doctor to protect yourself and your baby ❤️🫂
@Kyla thank you, that’s so motivating and positive 😍😍
I'm glad you didn't take that as me dismissing your fear because I totally get it! This s*** is scary sometimes! Just gotta take it all one day at a time. ☺️
The whole point is to actually see whether you have trouble regulating blood sugar so you just want to do what you normally do and see what happens. If you fail that is important information that you will want to know! Good luck and I hope you pass because obviously gestational diabetes is no fun.
I know some doctors say to fast and whatnot but my point is just it’s not something you want to actively try to pass. you just want to know
I don’t have a sweet tooth and I failed both the 1 and 3 hour tests. No history of diabetes. It just is what it is. It’s all about how the placenta deals with glucose
@Anna oops! What was the next step then? Diet plan or meds?

My numbers were on the lower side so it’s manageable with diet. 45-60 carbs per meal and 15-31 carbs per snack. It’s really not bad.
@Anna that seems fairly reasonable. Do you have to test your blood sugar a lot?
@Kyla once in the morning (fasting) and an hour after breakfast, lunch, and dinner
I think you should just do what you normally do so you can get the most accurate results. We don’t need to try and “trick” the test. I had a bunch of icecream the night before and forgot to eat breakfast the next morning except for a sugary coffee and I still passed with great levels. This was for the one hour test that didn’t have fasting instructions.
You suppose to fast anyways. So u not suppose to eat 8-10 hrs before
