Glucose test

Tomorrow’s my glucose test and so damn I’m nervous about it. I am in no way a big woman outside of the baby in my belly but damn I’m scared I won’t pass. I’ve been very good on sweets and soda so hopefully I’ll be ok.

I have my glucose test tomorrow too!! What flavor did you pick?

Mine is Friday and I’m super nervous too. 🥲 also a smaller person minus the baby bump. Hopefully we’re goood 🤞🏻

Good luck tomorrow. I didn’t pass my first one but I’m hopeful to pass the 3 hour one.

@Jenna I have no clue as they didn’t even tell me it was going to happen. I called my doctor to ask and they said my suspicions were right.

@Rebecca I am SCARED SHITLESS that I’ll have to do the 3 hour test as my hubby and I don’t live close that close to the doctors office we use.

Had mine yesterday, picked orange. Wasn’t that bad, tastes like flat orange soda or melted Freezies. Worst part was the wait and 3 different needle sticks. I got a bit dizzy and nauseous but overall it was ok

I did mine yesterday and it’s totally normal to be nervous but you’ll be good. Make sure you fast tonight and tomorrow morning until your appointment and you’ll be fine and I had the fruit punch it wasn’t bad at all.

@Ihovanna you got three needle sticks? I also got dizzy and a tad nauseous.

@Alaina yes 😫😫 one fasted, one an hour later (after drink) and another one an hour later at the 2h mark And I have really bad veins, and she was a nursing student 😫

@Ihovanna Awwwes I’m sorry mamas blessings everything comes back good. When’s your due date?

Here's a video that may help you feel less nervous about the test. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTY1YbewT/ She also has a lot of other videos about gestational diabetes.

Thankfully I passed, got my results later in the day. But thank you love ❤️❤️ Due date is Feb 11, ftm Hbu??

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that all goes well!

I had mine last Friday. Honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be

Mine is tomorrow too! I'm going to do what I did last pregnancy and pack food for after (I'll be going to work) and bring a book and a movie on my phone. Gotta stay distracted. It gets boring sitting for 2 hrs.

@Ihovanna 💕 Feb 14 😊

@Alaina awww a valentine baby ❤️ congrats

Do you have to fast for that? My doctor said I didn't have to

@Chanel Yes I would recommend to fast.

@Chanel no you don't. This is my second pregnancy and didn't have to fast either time. They just don't recommend you have a big carb or sugar meal before the test.

I work in women’s health. Anyone with a placenta can develop GD. It has nothing to do with you or your diet, it’s due to the placenta causing issues with insulin and glucose balance. So whether you pass or fail, you didn’t cause it or do anything wrong. It is easily managed and resolves when you deliver the placenta. I never ever recommend refusing the test because undiagnosed or untreated GD is very dangerous for you and baby. There are also alternative tests to the glucola drink if you don’t want to drink it. You got this mama!

@Chanel it’s up to your doctor. The 3 hour test IS a fasting test, but the initial one depends on your lab. My doc said I can eat or not, just nothing in the 1hr before and nothing super heavy in carbs like a stack of hotcakes and syrup. If you need to eat, do a balanced meal with protein as the main source. I can’t eat that early, so I told him I’ll be coming in with only coffee with cream in my belly lol

Eat a high fat, high protein breakfast and hopefully you’ll be fine. Usually there’s signs of GSD like increased thirst and appetite. Even if you do have it, it’s not the end of the world.

@Crysten thank you for chiming in!

I don’t think being overweight necessarily has anything to do with GD. I’m overweight myself outside of pregnancy and neither of my pregnancies Ive had GD…… I feel you could’ve worded that much differently. There’s plenty of women who are fit and well dieted that also still get GD.

@Natasha I agree whole-heartedly. I’m technically “obese” and my levels were perfect before pregnancy and during my glucose test!

I PASSED! I passed well in the green but damn that is a scary test just because your body can say F you and decide to mess you up.

Me too! Congratulations! 🎉

ngl i have mine in 3 weeks and i have been acting in my cravings. a little nervous but i drink a lot of water and eat really healthy meals while staying active but im nervous still.

@laylee I wish you luck!
