I Google it and it says it is normal in infants, nor usually cause for concern. Could mean she has an infection possibly, but no need to do anything as it will correct itself. Based on that, I'd really don't think you should be worried. The doctor would've told you more or told you to go to A&E if it was serious. I think she means watch her for fever or if not feeling well as she may then be fighting an infection. Personally I think teething causes inflammation too so it could all be related. I really don't think you have cause for concern. Get some rest mom. You'll need it. X
@Dianne she was seen at the hip clinic and all was fine and saw a consultant for a general examination in August they had no concerns except the amount of strawberry birthmarks she had. She had a blood test for that but never heard anything back so I assume all is well there. We live in a different county to where this blood test happened so my gp just requested a blood test to check her iron levels from a hospital in the same county so we could see the results quicker. I did check her discharge notes already and it says for her to have sytron but that’s it. Another reason we’re doing this blood test. She’s actually ended up on ferrous fumarate as at the time no pharmacy seemed to be able to get it in stock due to a supply issue. Even my gp was struggling. My main concern currently is the blood test for the iron highlighted high platelet count so just freaking out as I still see her as this small 2lb bubba. Haven’t had the full results back l yet so have no idea how her iron is x
@Ghitta she’s full of cold bless her so that probably doesn’t help. Hire weird though as I saw the same doctor like a week or so ago about a chesty cough she had where he gave me an inhaler for her because she was wheezing. so not sure why the gp asked me if she’s been unwell he should know. Definitely will continue to keep an eye on her but it’s just so scary when you hear back so fast and it’s not the answer you want to hear x
As your little one was prem does she get seen by NICU consultants for review at some point? It could be worth reaching out to the outreach team (if your hospital has one) or one of the consultants for reassurance. A lot of premie babies are discharged with Sytron to take with a plan for review. In my experience they usually take it for 1 year (so up till baby is 12 months old) then have it reviewed. Have a look through her discharge summary - it should say how long and when it should be due for review. I wouldn’t panic and monitor baby’s cold and teething symptoms.
