Had a forceps delivery with my son he’s 13 now and absolutely fine. As Hannah said it’s only if they are used incorrectly that things can go wrong.
I had forceps delivery and LO is perfectly fine :) if you want, you can take your baby to an osteopath to check if the forceps caused extra muscle tension, but that's definitely not a requirement so don't stress about it. Wave that mum guilt goodbye and enjoy your new baby ♥️
Also had a last minute forceps delivery due to head being turned the wrong way and a long labor. She had a small cut on her forehead but it healed in a weeks time and she’s been doing really well since. It’s normal to be anxious about our baby’s health but try not to google for answers and if you have any concerns make sure to bring them up with your GP or during midwife’s appointments xx Little ones are more resilient than we realize 😊
I had a forceps delivery due to baby being in the wrong position. He’s 8 months old now and absolutely fine.
Brain damage isn’t caused by something physical like forceps it would have been something like them getting stuck and being without oxygen for a period of time. You would know if your baby had a hypoxic event at birth because it would have shown up on the monitoring & your doctors would have realised this and maybe sent the baby for cooling or an MRI. I really wouldn’t dwell on it because you made the right decision in the moment and got your baby delivered in a timely manner 🫶🏻
I had forceps deliver with my little girl she is 20 weeks now and fine :) you did a great job 👏🏻 and I’m pretty sure your little one will be great.
I was told that when forceps or suction cups are used, the decision rests entirely with medical staff. Mums cannot opt in or out. It’s only ever used if it’s absolutely necessary. And as other mums have said, babies are totally fine and healthy afterwards.
I had a forceps delivery - my daughter will be 2 in February and is absolutely fine! Had a small mark on her face for 24 hours x
Hi I had emergency forceps with my son 2 years ago. He is absolutely fine :)
I’m a forceps baby as my mum struggle to push me out. I’m totally fine just a small dip in my skull now
it doesn’t nessrarily cause brain damage, but risks are increased, however usually that’s just if the forceps are used incorrectly, or with too much force, so in i’d imagine it’s quite rare. please don’t feel guilty, often with forceps you don’t have the choice (i needed forceps, baby’s heart rate was dropping and needed to get him out quickly) - at the end of the day it was my only option in that moment. he’s happy and healthy!
