Anyone on UC with this issue?

Hi all, I recently had a new born on the 10th of this month and was wondering if anyone else had been through this... So my 6 year old is my first child and was already on my claim so my UC payments have always included the child element for her. I had my second baby on the 10th this month and reported its straight to UC the day she was born. I had an appointment today to give evidence of her birth and she has now been added to my claim. My question is, when do I get the first payment with the new amount? My assessment period is from the 19th to 20th and baby was born in that assessment period and I reported it within that period too and had the appointment on the last day of that assessment period. However, I already got my statement for this month and it doesn't include the new amount for my 2nd born. I asked today and the guy at the job centre was unsure if I would have it backdated from baby's birth or if I would only get it starting from my next payment in December. I've heard some other people say that they get the backdated amount before their actual UC payment date but I'm unsure🙃

I’m sure with mine I could only add after I had birth certificate and then once added I got it. I had a part payment to start with then following month full amount

I am not not too sure, I only added my babies birth after I had the birth certificate and I added this via my online account and I think it was from that date I made the change online.

@Chloe they added her today and verified her birth with red book and discharge papers. I register baby tomorrow but they said I could do it with those 2 documents instead. How long after verifying did you get the part payment? I'm very on track with my income and outgoing and hate not having an idea of when money is coming in and going out 🤦‍♀️

@Rachel really? I haven't registered baby yet so don't have her birth certificate but they said it can be verified with the red book and mine and baby's discharge papers. They added her today after verifying the documents I gave them at the job centre

I'd advice you send a journal message to payment for clarification. This can also trigger verification in case its still outstanding. Because as much as I know child benefit is not verified by the Jobcentre they can get the documents and send to the team in charge of verification.
