I started weaning a couple weeks before my son turned 6 months. But a week after I started he got a cold and I decided to stop. At this age it really is just for fun, new textures and tastes etc, and you’re right it is more important (right now) for them to have their feeds over food. When they get a cold they can’t swallow as well and it’s harder for them to eat and therefore easier to choke. My son was quite mucusy too. It really is your choice but I decided to stop as it’s so early on into the journey. If he had been 7/8 months then I probably would’ve continued the weaning. A week later I started again. It’s what you think is best for him 🤷♀️
Same as Georgina, I started a few weeks ago baby got ill so stopped ( couldn’t breathe ect so didn’t trust her not to choke ) She was drinking half amount of milk as normal for a few days her milk is back to normal now and will carry in with purree in next few days imo I wouldn’t worry about stop starting baby needs milk more than anything when they are better resume the purée x
I had the same thing with my LO when we started weaning. She got a really bad cold 2 weeks in so I stopped until she was better I found she wasn’t that interested in food anyway but milk is still their main source of nutrition so as long as they’re still drinking I wouldn’t worry about pausing weaning for a bit until they’re back to normal x
I personally wouldn’t stop and re start. Always give milk before purées and therefore he’s going to be filled up on puree before the milk x
