Am I overthinking this?

I'm due in January with my first and we're having a boy. My husbands step mom suggested the name Aviel to me with the nickname Avi and it just stuck. I fell in love with this name from the moment I heard it and my husband and I decided to name him Aviel. We have recently told others his name (I can't keep my mouth shut to save my life lol) and my mom is worried because it's a Hebrew name and we aren't Jewish. She's worried it'll be seen as disrespectful, rude, or odd that we're using a name from a culture we don't "belong" to (for reference we're Canadian, my husband is Hungarian but has lived here since childhood). I didn't know it was a Hebrew name until after we decided to name him it. Is it wrong to continue on with the name? I pushed back and told her we plan to use it because we feel it will suit him and we love the name and we find it beautiful but now I'm worried others may find it rude or disrespectful. Am I overthinking it?

Fellow Canadian here 👋🇨🇦 In my opinion (not being Hebrew) I think you’re overthinking it. A names a name- I get where you guys are coming from but honestly I wouldn’t stress about it at all!

I was curious because I hadn't thought about this before.. my bog due in Feb is going to be called Elias, nickname Eli. The name is Hebrew and Greek. Neither me nor my partner are either of those😂i am mixed British and Caribbean and my partner is white British

My other kids are Miles(Latin, Slavic and Norman French), Logan(Scottish) and Cayde(Welsh and German). So only one of my children have a name that can be pulled from heritage because my mums side is half welsh😂

A ton of names are Hebrew names including super common names like David and no one ever raises an eyebrow so I think you’re ok?

My name's Buddhist and no one has ever judged me or my parents for that. I think Aviel is a beautiful name and if you try to look for negatives you'll find a negative about every name so go with your gut!
