Fish cakes is a good one! As it’s his first time having finger food are there particular foods I should avoid for now to minimise choking risk?
Do you have the app solid starts? If you get that and go on to the food section you can put it any good and it will tell you how to serve it to your baby safely which is really helpful. I started with toast at first I think, their gums and teeth are pretty strong but if something goes down the wrong way they're pretty good at gagging it back up as well. I don't think I really waited very long to introduce the other ones to be honest, things like fish cakes and egg slices are quite mushy in texture anyway!
It will definitely come in time! Frittata is a good easy one to try. Liver too because it’s so soft and babies love the taste. We rotate: Shredded chicken breast Liver Tuna Fatty cuts of steak Salmon Chicken nuggets (ground chicken with grated cheese, grated carrot, grated courgette, grated sweet potato- whatever you want to add, plus eggs) Bone marrow Kidney beans Black beans Lentils Mandarin orange slices Banana (whole) Blueberries Frozen summer berry mix (Any of the above in its own or mixed into kefir) Green beans (he loves!) Sautéed spinach with butter Sautéed mushrooms Sautéed kale with butter Steamed carrots Steamed pumpkin Steamed sweet potato I make a baby breastfast cake once per week and serve it for breakfast most days. I’ll add the recipe below. I can’t think of any more 😂 we don’t do anything ultra processed though. Mine also isn’t into broccoli texture.
Toast, pancakes, crumpets, breadsticks, cheese, fruit etc are all favs in our house
Toast is a good one, with lots of butter or peanut butter. My wee one loves an egg slice, pancakes, fish cakes, veggie tots ( I usually Google finger foods for babies and recipes etc will come up too)
