So salt of course I’m not going to give my baby salt but salt is in everything so how can I avoid it? we have leftover stew for his lunch today and it has oxo cube which has salt in…..am I okay to give it to him? To me salt meant like adding more salt into the product we also have home made meals with fresh veg etc Am I overthinking this salt?😂

I think it's more don't add salt unnecessarily. So if giving chips don't smother them in salt before giving them to your baby. A bit of oxo cube in a full meal won't be enough to make a difference I doubt since I assume the meal was made for a family and only contained the one so it was spread through the meal it's not like you're giving the stew and sprinkling a full oxo cube on top x

Okay that’s great thank you! Of course I’m not going to add unnecessary salt to his food I was winding myself up & yes it was a massive stew for a family of 6 adults x

& I don’t understand the artical sorry

Honestly, the stew is fine! It’s more about not adding additional salt like you say. We use stock etc in loads of meals, it’s absolutely fine to us. When cooking a big one pot meal, like a chilli or spag bol, we’ve stopped salting it while cooking however, and just salt our own portions afterwards (but still include ingredients like stock etc)

You can get low salt stock as well if you want to make the swap :) but for the amount they eat initially I wouldn’t worry. Things like ready made sauces and packet seasonings etc tend to have loads in so I avoid those. And if they have the odd high salt day, then can have low salt days to balance it out.

We buy low salt stock cubes for when we make food for the baby, then just don’t add salt when cooking! The occasional stock cube won’t hurt
