Reassurance needed please..

I live in Florida and I’ve lived in my apartment for two years. My baby is 6 months old. It’s really cold tonight so I decided to turn the heater on and it was only on for about 5 seconds, started smelling like a fire so I immediately turned it off. Idk if I have a gas or electric heater but now I’m paranoid and can’t sleep because I feel like a fire is gonna start. Someone please reassure me. Keep in mind the heater was on for like 5 seconds and it’s been 45 minutes since I shut it off. No smoke in the house.

If you don't ever turn the heater on or it's been the first time this season it was likely just the smell of the first heat burning off the dust. I live in Iowa. We just turned our heaters on this week. They smell hot and like burning the first few times they are turned on. I think you're fine girl.

It’s pretty normal for it to stink the first time you use it. Tomorrow turn it on during the day and keep watch for a while if you’re super nervous

@Brianne I’m extremely paranoid and I’m a very anxious person. I’m now worried about CO2 poisoning 😂 I’m sure it’s all fine but I don’t have any experience with heaters.

The first time I used my heater for the season it smelled like burning for the first couple times. Don’t worry mama. If you need some peace of mind just have a plan in case of a fire! Which would be good to have anyways

Girl it’s Florida and you never use the heater. It’s gonna have dust and hair if you have animals. It smells like that when you haven’t used it for a while. Just turn it on for a bit of if you’re really worried about it, just get a space heater for your room
