HFM

Someone please tell me I’m being dramatic and over worried… I’m nearly 19 weeks pregnant and work in EYFs in a primary school. Hand foot and mouth is currently doing the rounds and I’m slightly nervous regarding this. Someone please tell me I’ll be fine? Apparently you can come in with it but also some say you’re meant to stay off for 5 days??!

18 weeks myself working in a primary school. Unless you are in close contact you should be ok. If it is in your class or a connecting class (as some eyfs classes are) your school should do their best to safeguard yours and babies health

The NHS website says HFM is not a risk to pregnant women. Kids and continue to go in to school/nursery if they feel well with it. There is no need to quarantine

I had HFM when my daughter had it a couple of years ago and my GP told me it was very rare for adults to catch it and that it posed no risk.

I’ve heard so many different things, I emailed my midwife’s and they said it’s fine but to try avoid them. They aren’t currently in but hopefully doesn’t spread further.

My 1 year old (today 😭) has just had it and I am still breastfeeding and can’t not be in close contact with her. I am 16 weeks ans its been fine! GP said it wasn’t a risk for me!

Awh bless you that’s torture! Thankfully the child isn’t in my class. Just have to keep a eye out I guess
