So clever! Let us know if he drinks it š
No! Not at all! My little one is so poorly with RSV, if I could get any form of nutrients into him like this, I absolutely would!!
Great idea! Veggie juices and broths are my go to when sick!
Please donāt put anything in a bottle other than milk. You havenāt said how old he is but Iām guessing over weaning age of six months so maybe thicken it with potato starch and make him a soup. This is too dangerous.
@Laura Byrne sorry, why is it dangerous?
@Harriet he drank some! Iām counting anything as a win at this point
@Tara itās a choking risk. The fact he has a cold means youāre giving him antibodies and will for another week after heās better. Thatās all you need. Even if he doesnāt eat his milk will change to compensate.
@Laura Byrne thatās so interesting, even if itās the consistency of water?
@Laura Byrne thatās presuming mum is breastfeeding though? Iām confused re choking risk too if itās the same consistency as milk š¤
@Alice with the COL I know very few people not feeding to term these days. I hate breastfeeding but canāt afford to feed the triplets if I donāt. Anything other than milk in a bottle is a choking risk. It might seem like the same consistency but wonāt be. There will be solids. Also itāll be more nutritious as a meal anyway by adding starch
That is actually such a good idea, especially if itās like water with no lumps and bits in it that baby could choke on. I might do that for my little girl as sheās full of cold and not 100% at the moment. Did you strain it or anything to get the bits out of it?x
@Laura Byrne What do you mean by feeding to term? Not everyone is able to breastfeed their babies. I wasnāt able to breastfeed as my milk never came in and I think this is a genius idea especially if itās the consistency of juice thatās smooth with no bits in it?
Feeding to term is when you feed till the children make the informed decision to stop. As I said with COL not many can afford to not feed themselves and thereās a lot of pressure to keep going. If I could stop I would. Nearly 14mths of feeding three at once and itās not nice. But itās not for me. Also with milk now being off limits thereās nothing else they can drink.
@Julia I boiled all the veg with some bone broth, then put into my blender and strained it āŗļø

Iām not sure how this got onto the topic of breastfeeding but thanks for the feedback guys! He had some and Iām just glad Iām getting anything other than yogurt into him.
If it makes you feel better @Tara I was speaking to a paediatric nurse earlier on a 111 call back, and I had seen your post, and when discussing my little one being dehydrated at the moment I asked if giving him a broth was okay as heās refusing fluids and she said yes, absolutely, āhowever you can get them into himā she suggested I could syringe it, and try it in a variety of different bottles or cups. As you said, itās thin like water. There is no risk of choking if thereās no bits that can be choked on.
@Chloe aww thank you! Yeah Iām hoping blending it and then straining it got rid of all the bits. It is also through a size 1 teet as my son is still BF so we never sized up so Iām hoping nothing can get through that either š hope your little one is doing ok! RSV is horrible to deal with!
@Tara Iāll be definitely doing that for my little girl as sheās completely under the weather currently with a nasty cold and chest x
I would 100% do this with my 12m old if he struggled - you know your baby and whether he can handle the consistency. Don't overthink it tbh. Bone broth super good for him!
Bloody brilliant idea!
Juice the vegetables and dilute it with coconut water
