Nursery is a complete joke

So my sons been going for a few months he was getting 15 hours free but they said when he turned 3 I can only use 3 free hours a day of his free hours. The job centre said I will get the money back but I’ve had his first invoice today to pay on the 1st January of £124 which I cannot pay as I don’t get UC till the 2nd of January. And I can’t get it off UC until I pay it myself. My wages are due Friday but they will only be £450 as I’ve had loads of days off due to my child being poorly repeatedly poorly from catching bugs at nursery and I have to use that 450 for Xmas plus my council tax and food until the 2nd. I don’t know what to do except refuse to pay it and take him out of nursery!

I’m currently about to lose my job as well as my sons been non stop poorly from nursery and now he has caught measles from nursery! So got to have another few days off and my company can’t let me have so much time off during this period of the year

Are you able to ask nursery if you can pay the fees the day you get uc?

I’m going to ask them and see what they say just proper stressed tonight. It just seems insane that he’s entitled to 15 free hours and I only need childcare for 1 of the 2 days I work and he isnt aloud to use them even if I work an extra 2 hours I qualify for the 30 hours but he is only aloud to use 6 free hours a day

Sadly, each nursery can pretty much make up their own rules regarding when the funded hours can be used. I know it's easier said than done, but might be worth seeing if there are any other nurseries on the area that might be able to use the hours better, although I think 6 hours per day for funding isn't that unusual

I always pay my nursery bill when my UC comes in and so far haven’t had an issue! 1st of Jan is a bank holiday so it would be perfectly reasonable to pay it the day after!

6 hours per day if he’s in 5 days equates to your 30 hours so that adds up too! X
