White coat hypertension and induced?

So I’m 33 weeks and I went to my doctors appt this morning and my BP was 140/70. I have had a history of white coat hypertension (get super anxious at doctors offices) but they haven’t brought up my BP until today. It has always been over 130ish/70 the past couple of times when I’ve gone but when I take it at home it’s like 117/70. She brought up having to monitor it and going back again next week to check on it. She said they keep an eye on it because 37 weeks they can induce you if they are worried about PC. I haven’t had any protein in my urine or bad swelling. My question is has anyone had normal BP readings at home and then it’s high at the office and did they end up inducing you? Like what happens if I can’t get it normal in office but it’s still normal at home? Should I still get induced?

Just keep a log at home and have them make sure your home cuff is calibrated. Most docs will take the history of pressures over one reading in the office. Believe me providers know all about white coat syndrome. 140/70 one time in the office also isnt going to get you induced unless you were having crazy symptoms with it.

This happened my last pregnancy and I am same as you, where I have a history of white coat hypertension. The MFM was horrible and stressed me out further, so with my OBs agreement I ‘fired’ her. My OB trusted me and my readings at home. It was fine until 38 weeks, started being constantly high so he said not to take any chances I should get induced. That was at 38+3 and had her the following day. Haven’t had PC, just high blood pressure. Pregnant again and on aspirin! Trust yourself and your ob! Maybe they’ll ask that you check 3x day and keep a log for them. All the best!!!

This is me! 33 weeks tomorrow. I have had severe anxiety at the dr as I’ve gotten closer to delivery(a lot of trauma from previous loss). My blood pressure is completely normal at home. And I discovered today that if they let me chill out and don’t rush(as I’ve requested), it’ll come down at the office too. I’ve done weekly bloodwork, urine samples and ultrasounds and baby is perfectly fine and so am I when I’m not there! I won’t dare tell anyone else what to do but I’ve decided that as long as I’m not having any other symptoms I will keep going as I have been without any further intervention. I’ve been drinking dandelion and hibiscus tea, taking baths and chilling and I feel amazing. You’ve got this! Your body knows what to do 👏🏽
