My due date is approaching very quickly, and the anxiety of giving birth is rising and stressing me out quite a bit tbf. I’d love to hear some positive birth stories to calm down my nerves 🥹.

Keep reading positive birth stories, and watch some positive videos on YouTube. It really does help. I gave birth 3 weeks ago (first time mum) and I absolutely loved it. I went for a sweep on the Monday which they told me I was 2cm dilated. That caused abit of cramping, but then nothing on the Tuesday. By Wednesday morning at 7am I started experiencing cramps, but I thought maybe it was braxton hicks as there was no pattern to the cramps. I went to the toilet and there was blood, so I took photos to show my midwife (I had a 9am appointment with her). By the time I got to the midwife the cramps showed a pattern so I was tracking them on an app and they were lasting 40 seconds, every 4 mins or so. Just felt like period cramps. My midwife sent me to the hospital as she wasn’t sure if it was my bloody show or not. I got to the hospital and the contractions were abit stronger. They checked me over and it turns out I was 5cm dilated, so they took me to the birth centre. I used the pool..

..for pain relief which was amazing, and the gas and air. It was about 12:30pm when I got to the room. The contractions gradually ramped up abit in intensity and were closer together. I found the gas and air really helped me focus on my breathing, so I remained focused. By around 3pm I felt like I needed to poo, so they told me to get out the pool and checked, and I was 9 and a half centimetres. I got back in the pool, then my waters went but had meconium in them so they said I had to get out of the pool. Shortly after I started pushing, and he was born at 4:51pm. The birth was incredible, and I look back on it and feel lucky to say mine was so positive. The only really tough part was that I had a 3rd degree tear, so having to care for that was difficult at the start, and it’s still uncomfortable now xx

I went in with zero plan, other than trusting the team and knowing we'd both come out of there fine. I was 41 weeks & had my second sweep which made my waters go that same day! Contractions were fast very quickly so went to hospital and asked for a pool. I was 3cm when I got there & you can't have pain relief until you're at least 4, but the pool was honestly lovely! Long story short i asked for the epidural at 5cm, relaxed for a few hours but on the next check my girl ended up being back to back & got stuck, so to avoid any further stress we went for a section. Because I'd already had the epidural, we very quickly met our daughter, and surprisingly very relaxed in the delivery room! I'd have done it all again the next day. Was up walking same day, got home the next, relaxed as much as i could. I swear by the 5 5 5 rule, 5 days in bed, 5 days on bed (sofa), 5 days near bed (stay home!) And I was back driving within a couple of weeks. Our bodies are amazing. I swear by trusting the process! Good luck!

I had a really positive birth. I’d recommend the positive birth book by milly hill. It put me in a really good head space
