If you’re eligible for UC and start to get it, before baby turns 6 months, apply for the sure start maternity grant, and also make sure you’ve applied for child benefit too :)
If you're with a partner and he works full time and earns a decent wage, chances are you'll get barely anything! I'm on UC as I don't live with my partner, if I did, I wouldn't be able to claim anything.
I’m only on smp as I was at my job less than a year too. As my partner works full time I’m only entitled to child benefit at £25 a week. I could claim the sure start grant but let me know if you find anything else as I’m sure money will get tight for me too x
Universal credit and child benefit. Both needs to be applied separately
You can also apply for council tax exemption post universal credit has been accepted
I wouldn’t have been entitled as a ftm but now I’m on SMP the second time I’m entitled due to the childcare costs I have to pay
