Anyone no what this is?

This has appeared in last week or so on the top of my babies thigh it is dry to touch so don't no if it's a bit of eczema I went to doctors as he had nappy rash that was really sore and they prescribed me some strong cream clotrimazole and I mentioned this on his leg and they said it looks like dry skin and to try the cream on that to but I've tried and it seems to be spreading and getting worse I did think it looks a bit like ring worm but I'm really hoping not and I don't no where he would have caught it from anyway and surely if it was that cream would have worked

Looks like baby eczema. Aveeno has a baby eczema cream. That helped my sons. They had it on their backs. Hope that helps

My son had circular eczema when he was about 5 months that looked like this. One spot on his ankle and one on his lower back right where his diaper sat. My pediatrician gave us hydrocortisone 1% that cleared it up pretty quickly

@Bronwyn thanks hun have u got a picture of the cream so I can order it I have the aveeno baby but it's just the moisturiser version x

@Holly thank u x

@Bronwyn Suitable for newborns and also little ones who may be prone to eczema it does say this on the back of the aveeno baby moisturiser I have so shall I try this I did try it and it didn't seem to be doing anything x

Stay away from steroid creams. Eczema is normal in babies and they usually grow out of it. Try a natural balm if you want to try soothe it.

@Lottie like what? U got any pictures

Try an oatmeal bath then follow it up with the cream only when the skin in dry. You can even take dried oats you have an blend them Up fine and use those. Just really good for their skin.

That’s what I used. Helped him so much with the itchy dry spots

Please stay away from steroid cream! This is coming from someone whose son & husband suffer with severe eczema. No child accepts the same creams as another, it’s literally trial and error. I use Epaderm - can buy from boots or Aveeno. Again, some babies react to aveeno due to oats so I’d opt for Epaderm & keep areas well moist. I would cream my son head to toe every nappy change (every 2 hours)

@Lauren thank u x

@Lauren do u think it looks like eczema? It's dry to touch and has randomly come on in last few weeks and hasent gone and seems to be spreading a tad now can I use the epaderm on my baby he's 7 months old x

Green people baby balm is great

Yes that’s it & of course, you can even bathe the bubba on this. My sons started off a small dry patches. My LO has allergies so those was bigger trigger points when he was small. Only now he’s 2 I have better understanding of what to give & avoid. Don’t panic, it’s soooo common 💓

@Lauren could my baby have allergies then? He is 7 months old and has 3 meals a day puree and formula to or could it just be a bit of eczema x

My son had his first eczema flare up when he was 2 months so was nothing to do with food. However he was diagnosed with CMPA. Of course that made it worse. Reactions happen pretty much instantly for my son he gets huge red hives, slight swelling, ulcers in his mouth but I know what to avoid. If your LO hasn’t had any reactions especially to main allergens, I doubt it’s that.

@Lauren he eats everything and has never had a reaction x

My daughter who was exclusively breastfeeding had eczema flares that was persistent despite the creams and bath and everything anti-eczema that we tried. It continued getting worse until it just struck me to mention to the doctor that we should do allergy testing just in case so she was tested for everything and it turned out she had 10 allergies! Practically allergic to everything I was eating! Also reacting to the bath water! So I stopped eating everything that had the allergic foods and we started bathing her with distilled water instead and boom! Skin started getting back to normal. So I’d say test for allergies. Hope he feels better soon
