I’ve been in startups for quite a few years and worked from home even before COVID! My current job is in a customer facing role at a cybersecurity company - I make £98k and we have global WeWork so I can go into any WeWork anytime I want but usually WFH unless I fancy going into central London for some reason. (Currently taking the whole year off for mat leave a second time though) My background is in education, having been a teacher in the US for 6 years. Loads of skills are transferable to a lot of different roles. There are a lot of resources to find startup jobs. I got my first one through AngelList who I believe have re-branded to WellFound. Worth taking a look!
@Skye Thankyou!🫶🏼
No problem it takes a really long time to find one that works for oh especially if you want 100% from home it was months before I got my job but it was worth it!! Just a shame I can’t have my son at home while I work but I get it haha. His nursery is only down the road and being at home all day means I can go grab him if needs be and work would understand. I just can’t have him home on a daily basis while I work is all!
@Skye This is my biggest issue! With my current job i work nights in complex care and i’m the only staff member, so if I ever needed to leave for my baby i literally can’t😕 I’d feel so much better if I was at home so that I could get her if needs be!
Yeah I feel that! Definitely have a look around on indeed and remember if you’re looking for remote solely then change the distance to 100+ as it won’t matter then!! I live 2.5 hours away from my works head office 😂
I work as a learning and development coordinator 100% from home but most work from home jobs in the UK won’t allow you to have your child at home and be the primary care giver so my son will be going to nursery when I go back to work. You can filter down on indeed for remote jobs or at least hybrid. There’s a lot of admin, accounting, customer service, training type jobs that are at least hybrid :)
