I don’t know if it would seen as cultural appropriation or not, but he would definitely get asked “Are you Welsh?” a lot.
I’m Welsh and never heard the name before - it’s lovely! But I don’t even think he’ll get asked if he’s Welsh based off that 😂 although I am from south wales and maybe this is why north walians hate us As a Welsh person I say go for it it’s definitely not cultural appropriation just a name x
You can call your son whatever you like. When I was looking for names I really wanted one that sound and was spelled the same as it sounds in both Spanish and English because I didn’t want my family to get confused or my daughter to be asked how to spell her name all the time 😂 but that is me and my OCD, lol
I’m Welsh and I love the name, I don’t think a lot of people who aren’t from Wales would know it’s a Welsh name, if that makes sense 😂 You go with whatever name you want, don’t worry about what other people say, personally I don’t think it’s inappropriate or cultural appropriation at all. I think most Welsh people would love that you’re using a Welsh language name and not being Welsh yourself! 🏴
Love the name Emrys
If you love it use it
Definitely not cultural appropriation! Call him what you like, but yes people are bound to always ask him if he’s Welsh probably all his life - doesn’t make it wrong they are just curious x
