Hi, what are you lovely mamas using to help prevent/ reduce stretch marks.

I know stretch marks aren't preventable but has anyone got any recommendations on what I could use to help reduce or prevent them? I'm a Frist time mum and am still early on, but want to start getting my skin prepared for the growing. Thanks 🥰

Just keep moisturising with a thick moisturiser, it’s all genetics wether or not you get stretch marks. I had a big baby, and had a lot of fluid and got a lot, but once I lost the weight and was 8 months pp they’d died down and I don’t even notice them anymore. My mum didn’t get any in her pregnancy with me or my lil bro. Currently 22 weeks with baby no.2 x

I never got any with my first, currently 23 weeks with my second and none yet 🤞🏽🫣 Things I done with my first pregnancy. Drunk a lot of water each day, like 2L + probably. Stayed active. I was working out and doing pregnancy yoga. I used palmers tummy butter stretch mark cream and their other stretch mark cream. As I got bigger I’d use it twice a day/three times a day. I also spent the majority of my pregnancy in pregnancy tights which had support around the belly. Take vitamins and have a healthy diet. Obviously no idea if any of this helped in preventing stretch marks or not, but I didn’t get any x

As others have said, I think it’s luck and genetics! I’m 4 weeks pp with my first and didn’t get any. Stayed hydrated and active, and most days rubbed either a tummy butter (mama mio as I liked the smell) and/or sweet almond oil into my belly/hips (as I’d read this was the only things with a small amount of science behind it) - not sure if that’s why I avoided them though. Towards the end everything was so tight and stretched with a 97th percentile baby - especially around my belly button - I was convinced they’d arrive! But now things are shrinking back down my skin’s just a bit crinkly in my belly button - think I’ve got off very lightly.

Thank you 🥰 I know it's alot to do with genetics. My mum had lots of them. But other women in family have none. My mum did have 3 kids very close together I will definitely get a good moisturizer though and try drinking more water (I'm terrible at drinking water)

Also took normal pregnancy vitamins and an omega 3 supplement (same box) - not sure if that helped keep things supple too x

i used bio oil my whole pregnancy, just rubbed it on my tummy once a day. now 12 weeks PP and not a single stretch mark x

I use Palmers Coco Butter every evening and just a normal body moisturiser in the morning. Currently 39 weeks and haven’t got any 🤞🏼🤞🏼xx

Luck of the draw and genetics I’m afraid. Currently 40+3 and no stretch marks so far. I have done nothing, and made no effort, to prevent them. No moisturiser, no oils, only take vitamin D, literally nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️
