Extra money help

I just wanted to check, I work full time and my works maternity is 3 months full pay then SMP, when I’m on SMP is there anything I can do to claim for additional help. I believe mine and my partners salary combined are too high for UC which is fine but dropping down to just over £700 after 3 months doesn’t seem it’s manageable, I’m putting aside what I can anyway but wanted to know my options if any it’s all so confusing lol ☺️.

Obviously depending on how much your partner earns and if you pay for housing, have any other children etc you may find you’re eligible for some UC when your wage drops that low, worth a look anyway x

@Jessica Thanks you ☺️ I’ll definitely check out just incase but he has another child from a different relationship so makes it confusing when it’s my first x

Definitely worth a look just in case ☺️ there’s a manual calculator online to work out what your entitlement is and what the deductions would be based on wages, hopefully you’d be entitled to something to help while on mat pay 🤞

If you don't already follow them look up nugget savings on Instagram. They give maternity financial advice and have some useful info.

You will also get child benefit which is £25.60 a week (paid every 4 weeks) not much but it’s an extra £100 a month or so

@Ali worth noting there are caps in place for this too! if one parent earns over 60k then you pay tax on it and if one earns over 80k the tax cancels it out. so not available for all sadly.
