Struggling with Guilt

My 6 week old lost over a pound in his first week. Through every 2 hour triple feedings and formula top offs, he is now back on track and he’s nearly 3 lbs over his lowest weight. The pediatrician has no concerns. But when I think about how he must have been so hungry and helpless that first week it’s debilitating for me. My heart breaks, I feel like I’m going to have a panic attack, I can’t handle it. How do you get over this level of guilt?

It has nothing to do with being hungry. It’s perfectly normal and very common for newborns to drop their birthweight. When my daughter was born she weighed 6lbs3.5oz and for 2 weeks she dropped weight to 5lbs6oz and midwifes and health visitor said it was such a normal thing to happen and that she just had to be woken up from sleep every 2 hours to feed to put the weight back on You have nothing to be guilty for xx
