That’s weird. I didn’t need to fast for any of my both pregnancies

You don’t need to fast for an NIPT test, are they testing you for something else? I’d question them about it because fasting during the first trimester can make you really sick if you’re dealing with morning sickness or nausea

The lady doing the blood draw said I didn’t need to fast for any of the tests 😭. Also for some reason they’re having me do the glucose test in the first trimester 😭🤢

Ugh the office sounds like they had a lot of miscommunication. For the blood glucose test, may I ask if this is your first pregnancy or if you are high risk or overweight? No hate at all, just wondering because if you are any of the above, doctors will do the blood glucose test first trimester to see if you’re at risk of gestational diabetes

@Brystal this is my second pregnancy. Technically I’m overweight so that’s probably why but I didn’t have gestational diabetes with my first and I was overweight for that too

That’s really interesting they are having you do it then. Drinking the drink really sucks and doing the test really sucks but you’ve got this!

They’re also having me do two glucose tests this time, one in first trimester. He said because my baby was pretty big the first time. And because I’m over 35 now. They just wanna make sure.

But I’m doing the fresh test drink which is a healthier option I guess. Maybe something to consider if you’re worried about it.

Yes! They are doing this to me for Thursday but they are also doing the blood sugar test. I’m not sure why they are doing it so early but maybe that’s what they are doing for you to

Not saying you should but know that you can decline these test if you feel they are really not necessary in your situation. Like the glucose test especially in the first trimester. Sometimes we know ourselves better than the doctors do.

Okay so update on this. I’m super pissed because the doctor told me it would include NIPT and sex test but then didn’t put it so now I’ll have to go get blood drawn again in 2 weeks because they’re incompetent

It may be good to look for a different doctor if you’re feeling like they are incompetent

No! Ugh I can’t imagine having to fast in the first trimester. You poor thing! I have only fasted for the glucose test.
