Finger foods to small bits

Hello, My little boy turns 9 months tomorrow and we still give most food as large finger food sizes but I know on solid starts 9 months is when they suggest moving to little bits so they can use their pincer grip. He is able to pick up some smaller pieces but still mostly uses his fists. Just wondered when everyone else switched to smaller pieces? Is it better to wait until he can use a pincer grip or will he only learn being given small pieces to try with?

I switched at 8 months x

I switched probably just before she turned 8 months she would sit there and pick up crumbs instead of the actual food so I knew it was time to switch😂she gets on a lot better with it being smaller she gained a lot more interest in her food and not just the crumbs😂

I done it around 9/10 months, I noticed in the end he started throwing the food when it was cut into fingers, so I thought ah let’s try small pieces & low & behold he started eating it again 😂 now he likes everything in tiny little squares 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
