I was the same! I stuck it out with the tray meals and slowly worked my way into none mashable foods. I also used the melty crisps/biscuits. You can always try and take a first aid course, knowing how to help if LO does choke will help put your mind at ease. Most places now do a free or very cheap courses (I know they do in the UK, unsure of anywhere else)
BLW can also just mean your baby feeds himself the puréed foods or mashed foods. I like the three sooon method. Try some hummus, mashed consistency foods, anything soft enough that you can mush with just the back of a fork. For crunch I like Cheerios (after he crawled) and little bellies snacks. That brand has some corn puffs that just melt in your mouth.
Also I understand the worry. I bought the anti choking device (life vac). And I watched videos on how to treat a choking baby. It’s okay to want to feel prepared.
Read up!! Knowledge is key, you need to learn about gagging and choking, the difference and what to do or not to do. The website solid starts is great. Your anxiety is contagious so the more you are confident the better for your child. Also know that the longer you wait for solid food the more risk of choking, so sooner is better. Gagging is totally normal and expected, baby should be gagging. You just need to learn the difference.
Xhop it stupid small and each day make it a slightly bigger pieces. Offer water when they're gagging to help em wash it down i was the same way just make it gradually chunkier and chunkier depending on the hardness
