Hands in mouth

My baby is almost 11 weeks old and recently seems to be putting his hands in his mouth a lot more. I've always thought this was a hunger cue but he does it when he's just been fed as well. I've read somewhere that as they get older the hands in mouth doesn't necessarily mean hunger anymore it can mean other things too, does anyone know if that's the case? I'm getting worried that he's just hungry and I'm not giving him enough....because I combi feed if he does it after I've breastfed him I'm getting anxious that my body isn't producing enough milk for him 😭 he seems happy enough, just with his hands in his mouth! Just wondered if anyone else's little ones have their hands in their mouths all the time or whether I need to plan to give him a bottle after I've breastfed if I'm not giving him what he needs 💔

It's a big development leap when they find their hands 😀 if you are happy he's had his normal feed and isn't fussy or upset then he's just discovered his hands 😁 get those dribble bibs out. Also a self soother or teething but if he's chilled, I'm guessing he's just chilling

My 7w old has started sucking his hands over the past week, even when he’s just fed. I second the above, it’s a development leap and they just love that they have discovered their hands! My little one is sucking his hands when he’s happy and sad, so all seems very normal - the health visitor agreed too! 😊 x

As above, it's just that he's discovered his hands. Now my son holds his hand in front of his face and goes cross eyes trying to focus on it, then shoves his whole fist in his mouth 😆

My 8 week old has discovered his hands this week Even punched himself in the eye 🙈

Mine has been doing this since 7 weeks, most often when she’s tired so I think it’s a soothing thing for her! But it does make it hard to tell hunger cues!
