Look up the "Clean 15" as well, they're the ones that it doesn't really matter because the outer layer is protective from the health issues. Part of the reason I try to eat mostly organic is environmental reasons as well. There's a point at which you just have to do the best you can. If it's buy fruit the kids will eat or none because I can't get much organic variety right now, it's better to have some fruit. The nice thing is that you can usually find frozen organic berries any time that are good for smoothies or baking, so that's another way to get them.
Registered dietitian here. That’s so awesome you’re eating more fruits and veggies! I wouldn’t stress too much over whether or not it’s organic. If you have the option to buy organic and it’s affordable then great, but if not, eating non organic fruits and veggies is still better than none at all :) Your question does the good from fruits/veggies outweigh the possible bad from pesticides and I would say 100% yes! So so so many benefits to eating fruits/veggies.
@Megan yay okay thank you! There is sooo much information out there and it can all get overwhelming. So it’s nice to hear from someone whose job it is to know stuff like this 😊
@Grace this. I do the same thing with mine with the baking soda. Bananas, avocado, oranges I typically buy non organic. Everything else I get organic.
@Grace thank you for the info! I will definitely try and wash them with the baking soda. I was just doing water! So for something like strawberries is it best to just not eat them right now if I can’t find organic ones without mold?
