Maybe look at maternity allowance instead of maternity pay? I quit my job when I found out I was pregnant because I worked with dangerous people, but because I’d paid a certain amount of national insurance with it the past year I could still get £700 odd a month maternity allowance.

Id contact your works HR department and ask them to look into it as i can't remember the specifics but you have to have worked X amount over X many weeks to qualify same for SMP. However you'll likely get UC even with a partner at home

@YazmynJade yeah i think we’ll be entitled to uc but will be better off with smp over maternity allowance as they take that off pound for pound!

I think SMP is now deducted as well

@YazmynJade yeah it is but treated like wages so 50p deduction instead of pound for pound like MA x

You'll be entitled if you earn something like £150 per week, I can't remember the exact number but I work bank zero hours and got SMP. A quick search via Google of the govt website will tell you all you need to know

You'll get government mat allowance even if your employer doesn't offer you mat pay due to the contract. Contact your HR department and also direct gov x
