Weaning

Honest answers please at what age did you start trying your baby with puree, rusk, baby rice/porridge etc? I know it states on the packaging certain months but was curious on actual ages people start.

Will b starting maybe 5 months

I started at around 5,5 months with my first showing the signs like being able to hold his head on his own. But I’ll be honest, even that I wished I waited a little bit longer. I’m in no rush to start this time so will wait till the full 6 months. It sounds lazy but weaning is hard.

6 months. Weaning babies early can cause issues with their gut as adults. Only a medical professional should be advising people to wean earlier xx

6 months minimum I didn’t do my first till about 7 months as there’s literally no rush and didn’t want him to have the chance of having any gut issues and tbh he wasn’t bothered at 6 months x

6 months. Although we'll not be doing any purées or baby rice or rusks, straight to solid food and a modified version of whatever we're eating

My first we gave little bits of milky rusk and porridge around 5 months, second I waited until about 7 months and did baby led weaning all stuff she could feed herself and will do the same with third baby. Oldest has had some tummy issues the last couple of years but they started up after he had covid twice so I'm unsure if there's a link.

Ignore what it says on a package. Baby’s shouldn’t be weaned before 6 months unless guided and recommended by a professional. Everyone makes their own choice and know their baby best. But packaging is marketing and they misinform parents when they state from 4 months! Many are trying to make it illegal for them to advertise from 4 months and change it to all 6+ months as that is what safest for babies to avoid gut issues xx
