Government funding

I’m wanting to apply for my 13 month old but my partner has recently lost his job so is home, looking to start a job soon. I’m wanting to get her settled into a nursery but would we be eligible for funding whilst he’s home? I work 30hrs a week.

You'll get tax free childcare but the funded hours are if both parents are working (working is classed as at least 16 hours a week per person). So probably not x

@Rebecca tax free childcare is also for both parents working.

One loophole if this works for your situation is for your other half to set up his own business, and then loan the amount needed to be eligible for the funding/tax free childcare to the business as a directors loan - then use that to pay him a salary. The amount you need to earn over a 3 month period to be eligible is only roughly £2,379 so if you have that amount available in savings then this could also be an option for you. My husband started his own recruitment business last year so we did this as it was obviously going to be months before he'd make real money / close a deal and get it invoiced and paid as he had to do a lot of business development over the first 6 months etc Xx
