Enhanced Maternity Pay
I am entitled to EMP however I do not want to return to work after mat leave so will have to pay this back.
Can I opt for SMP instead or are you not allowed that option?
There is a possibility of taking redundancy a few months before my mat leave starts and could then claim maternity allowance instead.
Would that be the best option?

Speak to citizens advice id recommend. Would you not consider returning to work the minimum time period just to keep the enhanced pay?

As your next step is unclear (go for redundancy or just not return), I think I'd personally take the enhanced maternity pay and stash it in a high interest account. Earn some money on it while it's sat there and return it if needed.
