Nursery funding before Sept

Hey mamas, Our babies just miss out on the 15 funded hours before September 😭 I’m a FTM, can anyone help me to understand costs if I was to put my baby in nursery just one or two days a week ahead of September? I return to work end of May so looking at 3 months without funding

Each nursery have different prices per day. My 1st boy used to go 1 day a week and his was £250 a month. The government pay 20% so we would pay £200 per month and they’d top it up to £250 for us x

It really depends what area you are in. I think mine will be about £65 per day before the 20% tax free childcare amount well be able to get

Thank you, I think its looking like £75 a day. How does it work when the funding comes in September? I’ve read when it’s stretched it’s 11 hours funding a week but wondering how that works if he’s only in nursery for 10.5 hours?

Most nurseries charge a daily fee or charge for food / consumables on days you use your funded hours so you’ll likely still pay something

Again just going off my 1st, when he got 15 free hours, we only used 10 hours. (He just went 1 day a week) and we still had to pay about £65 a month. I think we paid £50 and the government topped up the other £15

Thanks all!

Does that mean we can’t use the 15 hours until the 30 hours in September? It’s so confusing!

I think so for all July babies and onwards

The 30 hours in September work out as 22.3 hours a week… silly I know. So for me that’s 2 days a week however he has to go for 3 days to qualify for the free hours so I still have to pay something towards (around £260 a month) You can still claim tax free gov 20% when they get the free hours also. I’d ask your nursery to work out the fees and expected costs for you they should be able to let you know x

@Louisa yes

All the nurseries near me are full for September. We’ve got a space at one and have been quoted £470pm for 3 days. That’s with 30hours stretched over the whole year 😅 £376 with tax free childcare. For FT it was over £1300 with funded hours stretched over the year. So just over £1000 with tax free childcare. I’m planning to go back 3.5/4days a week.
