Tomato free blw meals

So I am lactose intolerant and allergic to nuts. We eat a lot of tomato based sauces etc in my house to avoid cream/dairy. My newest little one has a tomato allergy. Firts time he had a tomato sauce he got a rash around his mouth and second time he ate actual tomatoes he pooped blood (no it deffo wasn't the skin) So he can't have them. I'm finding it hard to make meals he will eat. Can anyone give me any ideas for good easy family meals that aren't basically casserole or a roast dinner

Stirfry, vegan mac and cheese, curry, sweet potato fries/broc/protein. I do have a blw instagram if you wanted some inspo, I’m vegan so obviously don’t have dairy/cream but any vegan proteins could be subbed for meat, the instagram is myveganblw xx

As Laura said but we also use Vegan pesto (I buy it from Aldi) or I use the Aldi veg pouches or blend veg and add them to pasta or meat dish’s as a sauce instead of using tomato as my son has CMPA and a tomato allergy

Bean quesadillas with corn tortillas. Used your own taco seasoning or a tomato free taco sauce you like for flavor. You can check out some Japanese or Chinese dishes too. There are a lot of rice bowl and soup recipes that work. I like this website for Japanese recipes. I like this one. https://www.justonecookbook.com/oyakodon/

If baby isn't lactose I tolerant you can make a butternut squash type sauce with a creamy cheese or butter and cream

@Michelle my problem with these is nuts. I can't have nuts in the home as I'm severely allergic

@Laura thank you. I'm trying to find some bits I can make for the whole.family yo avoid multiple meals so baby having cheese / lots of dairy but nobody else having that isn't ideal. Everyone else in the home is lactose intolerant and I'm also severely allergic to nuts. So we dont have any nuts in the house.

I’m lactose intolerant and a lot of spaghetti sauces bother my stomach. We use pesto as our “sauce” or even olive oil with seasonings. My 10 month loves pasta this way too. Another staple we make is a sheet pan meal. It’s turkey sausage, broccoli & sweet potato with your chose of seasonings. It’s literally so easy to make and is cooked on one pan.

@Louise you could puree it down and just add dairy to babies food when preparing. If they can handle dairy it's good to be able to provide it for them for vitamin d and the extra protein😃 or you can use oatmilk or a coconut yogurt

@Laura I do add dairy to the kids meals but I dont tend to make foods where that is the base ingredient. Thank you.

@Tori unfortunately due to nuts pesto is out. I have been giving him. Buttered pasta with herbs. I shall need to checkout the sheet pan route x

@Louise I did not know pesto had nuts in it. My apologies. You can look up other sheet pan meals. They are so easy and quick.

@Tori yeah it's pine nuts / cashew normally depending on brand I know it's not one people think of. Unfortunately I'm allergic to peanut almond pine nuts pecans etc and it's bad enough I can't have them in the house at all.

Cottage pie beef stews Chicken stew Chinese - sweet n sour chicken with rice Jacket potato / tuna/ cheese Fry my daughter had an allergy to all foods with seeds in, tomato, raspberry etc She grew out of it quickly so keep trying x

@Louise you can blend silken tofu into sauces to make them creamy instead of dairy, like butternut squash and tofu for a mac n cheeze type dish. Are you also allergic to sesame? Can do coconut milk and tahini soup bases for noodle soup.

Are you sure he’s intolerant? Rash around the mouth could just be a contact rash, which most kids get from tomato anyway.

@Sarah my baby also has contact rash, but she also says blood in poo, which isn't normal

Can use sunflower/pumpkin seeds in place of nuts to make homemade pesto, really yummy.

@Charlotte and nutritional yeast instead of cheese

@Emmo yes it's deffo allergy it was a hives like rash from the mouth down and blood in poop. I thought It was just skin at first but for lack of better wording it was reminiscent of period jellyfish He's been assessed by Dr they agreed and he's been referred to hospital. He also did not have enough tomato to get a contact rash really in the first place. I have lots of allergies myself so I'm well versed in them. It presented like cmpa can with the blood in the stool so I immediately stopped with tomato as I didn't want to make it worse

@Charlotte ooh I do not like either of these things but perhaps I would in a sauce. I shall try it x
