Feeling overwhelmed

I have 4 weeks to go and feel like I can’t do anything because my husband is always working and says it’s not safe for me to go out alone, not that I would get very far as it is a struggle to walk for long! I just feel so cooped up and uncomfortable. I know baby will come soon but then I will be cooped up with a baby to look after! I just feel like I’m saying goodbye to the version of myself that could do whatever whenever freely. I feel guilty saying that as I know my baby will bring so much joy but it’s like the fun era of my life is done 🥲

Can you go out with someone, like a friend or your mum/sister? It’s really important to get fresh air even if they pick you up in the car and drive you somewhere for a short walk and a coffee or something! I’m trying to go for a walk every day but I understand the worry about going alone. Especially if you’re already on mat leave now you need to be super relaxed in this time, getting some gentle exercise and plenty of sleep. Hope you can figure something out ❤️

Absolutely go out for a walk etc as otherwise it'll really take its toll being stuck in! The first few weeks of babies life can be a challenge to get out, particularly for a first time parent. Why wouldn't it be safe? Providing you're not going to the middle of no where I don't see the issue. I'm still walking our dog regularly on my own as it's good to keep going and busy.

Why can’t you go out? I’m 37 weeks and still running around after my toddler taking her to different activities. Getting out and about will be good for you physically and mentally

Walking has been the one thing that's kept me sane with all my pregnancies. I have a corner shop 1/4 mile up the road and sometimes I just go and look round as an excuse to get out. Also, when baby arrives, walking round the block feels like such an achievement and gives you a boost. Just getting up, washed, dressed, and doing some light exercise to give you and baby fresh air; it's a real game changer!
