I’ve always done my nails and I’ve done my hair in the first trimester. Far as I know it’s safe, but go to a very professional salon even tho you pay a bit more!!
I got mine done was just told to wait till 12weeks plus and just had get patch test again for hair are hormones can change bodies reactions x
I used to be a hairdresser (10 years ago now though) When I was training I was taught that the only reason they do not like colouring hair during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and 12 weeks post partum is due to hormones affecting the outcome of the colour - as in you could end up with a colour you didn’t want even though the application and process was correct. I was never told it was unsafe for baby. I had my hair and nails done throughout both of my pregnancies and I worked as a hairdresser in a salon for my first so was mixing and touching colours and peroxide throughout that pregnancy. Hope this was helpful x
Had them done all throughout pregnancy although I don’t use bleach on the scalp like I get balayage or I’m merely covering greys, and nails just don’t get it on your skin/cuticles and lots of airflow. SNS and Acrylics is what stinks, gel polish and Polygel don’t have an odour at all. Make sure it’s well ventilated that’s all. My gf even went into her Csec w fake nails she was never told not to.
Had gel nails my entire way through. My nail tech checked with her insurance and was told it’s fine
Thank you for all the replies, really helpful xx
I’ve had my hair and nails done throughout my pregnancy and haven’t been advised not to x
