In a lot of cases, the bigger, the better. 🩵
My son is 10months, he has solids but every meal is a small panic attack for me! Hang in there! It will get better! 🥰
As Brie said, she is gonna gag. A lot but it is how they learn. There are lots of groups on fb you can join (I like ‘weaning the blw way’ for inspiration, help etc. The calmer you are the calmer baby will be. I started with lots of soft vegetables (broccoli, carrots etc) and she doesn’t even swallow most things but the gagging has calmed loads now and she loves meal times. It’s natural to feel anxious but it’s also natural for baby to wean and gag and learn. You’ve got this ☺️
Stick with things that are still very soft and can be smashed but is still solid enough to grasp (think slightly overcooked veggies). I started both my boys with cooked carrot sticks and avocado rolled in crushed up puff snacks to make it less slippery and give it some texture. Slices should be gib enough to stick put of their fist when they grip it. Learning the difference between choking and gagging is key. Choking is silent, if they are making noise then they’re gagging and you can give them a chance to clear it on their own. If it makes you feel any better, neither of my boys have ever choked on anything
She’s gonna gag a lot, let her have fun and her tongue is designed to gag foods up as long as your following BLW standards. SOLIDSTARTS is a good website. If she’s feeding herself, you have little to nothing to worry about mama! Watch some YouTube educational BLW videos for some more confidence🩵🩵🩵 Website tells you how to prepare the food
