Shared parental levae for teachers
Does anyone know how the shared parental leave works? I get the jist but i don't too. Am i right in saying it goes from 100%, to 90% full pay to then statutory pay for the remaining? Why do we get paid for the half term? Is that half pay spread across the maternity leave? Where does that money come from?!
Also can my partner take the last 3 months for paternity and i take 9months? His job offers full pay fot 6 months so financially it sounds better. But can i do this during shared parental leave?
Check your contract. Mine went 100, 90, 80, 50 in stages. It's the same as when you are working in terms of being paid in holidays, so if it's 90% in holidays then that's what it is. What you can do is "end" your maternity leave at the start of a school holidays and start a block of shared parental leave at the start of the next term to mean you got full pay for the holidays. I'm not sure how it works with dads leave though!
