Smoking 🌳

Wondering if they test babies poop at pregnancy? Wouldn’t want a stupid decision to get cps involved. On top of it my husband’s not thrilled I snuck a hit of it tonight we were in such a good place and I ruined it. Just nervous, looking for advice.

Pooooop?!?!? Excuse me, what? what do you mean at pregnancy? At birth? I mean they could just test you, but if it was one hit, it should be out of your system in a few days. When are you due?

My friend had it happen, she failed a drug test and they tested baby and cps came in

@Carissa yes I mean at birth

@Amanda was she a chronic smoker?

@Shawnee was she a chronic smoker?

hey girl, I was 3 months along when I found out I was pregnant. I was smoking heavily at the time. I was honest with my doctor because I felt it was the right thing to do and Immediately regretted it. I felt very judged and alone. They tested mine and my son’s urine in the hospital. They had to put a plastic bag on his penis. I felt very ashamed and guilty. That is my experience, so I recommend you don’t tell anyone. And in my case, cps was not involved even when the doctors knew I was high during pregnancy.

For reference I’m 19 weeks.

@Amanda appreciate the info

This might give me a lot of shit but I smoked a good bit during my pregnancy, helped a lot, during my entire pregnancy, I had hyperemesis gravidarum, which is whenyour sick your entire pregnancy, it was horrible, but anyways, in my opinion, you are your own person and can make your own decisions in life, you as a mother will put your child before anyone and anything, if you needed to decompress you do so, but to the question ik of 1 hospital in Pennsylvania that does test for it, but she also did tell her ob that she did smoke that also might be why, I didn’t tell anyone but I made sure to not do it as much an scheduled extra appointments just in case god forbid, but you shouldn’t feel any type of way making a decision for yourself especially when you realize and recognize it bothers him, you know you didn’t mean to make him upset an that’s the important part, one little thing shouldn’t ruin a wonderful night, super excited for you though ❀

She wasn't! She smoked maybe once or twice before birth

They don’t test poop unless absolutely necessary. they collect the first urine of the baby if mother tests positive. Sometimes they test baby just because if they suspect. Depending on the state, they could make an issue out of it. It’s best to just avoid it unless you’re in a legal state AND medically prescribed AND your obgyn is aware but even then they could get CPS involved just for after care follows up for baby when home. It’s honestly best to avoid it unless absolutely necessary for medical purposes. Unfortunately they suggest SSRIs & other toxic medications are perfect legal & safe while pregnant. It’s safe for them to continue their doses not bad for baby.😣IMO that’ seems worse than cannabis! A natural plant but big pharma runs the world and keeps us hooked at all costs on medicine. As long as you stop now, you should be fine. Do you have a previous history of cannabis use on ur medical chart or something? IMO they really only test mom and baby if suspected

@Victoria so your baby did not get tested? I’m so nervous. I don’t want cps getting involved.

@Shawnee how many weeks was she do you know?

@Aaammgg♄♄♄ so I’ll get tested!?

Girl you didn’t answer the question I can’t help if I don’t know

@Aaammgg♄♄♄ oh no I don’t

Please do not spiral out None of us are medical professionals or legal experts. We can only speak from experience. Everyone situation is different. You’re in pa? You’re in a legal state. If you have no medical card, and no past history of cannabis use then they shouldn’t have a reason to test you or baby. If you stop now your baby will have better chance of not having any traces and any other issues. It’s a 30 day wait till it’s clear out and the first poop would mean you could have smoked at ANY time during pregnancy which is normal if u didn’t know u were pregnant it happens. The levels will be lower if you stop now, not to mention save for you both during this time!

@Aaammgg♄♄♄ thank you, trying not to

i smoked over a g a day until like 33 weeks, had her at 39 exactly. not sure where youre at but armstrong hospital called to notify me that magee would be testing me and would bring cps to my room if it was positive but armstrong doesnt test . all depends on how big or what hospital youre going to. also, one hit is only in your system for up to a week!

I would be going to a upmc magee hospital

@Gabi I would be going to a upmc magee hospital, I’m only 19 weeks

@Aaammgg♄♄♄ not sure if it was a typo but I’m in PA and marijuana is not legal. I do agree if you don’t have a medical card* filed or no history you should be okay. But they do routine test your urine throughout pregnancy, not sure if that includes for drugs (atleast they did when I was pregnant) so I would just not do it again.

@Alyson you can get a medical marijuana card for a number of common issues in Pennsylvania.

@Alyson https://www.pa.gov/agencies/health/programs/medical-marijuana.html

@Aaammgg♄♄♄ yes it’s legal only with a medical card but not for recreational use. Be aware OP there’s a lot of gray area there with that as well to be mindful of.

i didnt have a med card or history @Alyson & they still routinely tested me! but at 19 weeks you have plenty of time to have it out of your system before birth. i was getting tested every other week at magee, west penn, and armstrong and was fine as long as i was negative at birth..

@Gabi lol I gave birth so long ago but I remember peeing in a cup every single doctors appointment I just never asked what for 😂😂. I don’t have any drug history either

They definitely tested myself and my baby and cys was then at our bedside

@Kaytlyn were you a frequent smoker / when did you last smoke?

Yes I was a frequent smoker. This was in 2019.

They also aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

@Alyson yes you’re correct. most definitely the grey areas are still extremely grey :/

@Gabi so I think I’m going to a Magee hospital
I’ll just pray for the best

Magee does test.

@Kaytlyn Do you think it would still get detected if I don’t do it anymore? So I stopped at 19 weeks?

LVHN tested my babies pee. She was clean. I’d stopped smoking while pregnant but took a few hits around Halloween that was at 22- 23ish weeks. You said you’re 19 weeks I think you will be okay. Be careful you don’t know baby could come sooner than you expect though!

Even with a medical card they can and will call CPS and honestly should. You should be able to give up pot for 9 months for your own kid.

@Gabi this is relieving Ty!

@LaKayla how was your pregnancy? Were you constantly in the bathroom w/ HG? The only thing that would help me was smoking. I slept on the bathroom floor 95% of my pregnancy because I was so sick until my OB recommended I take a few tokes when my sickness got too bad. I stopped smoking around 30 weeks and I don’t have a high metabolism to help get the thc out of my body. Please don’t assume people’s situations đŸ«¶đŸ»

@Justice when did you have your baby?

You have plenty of time
