Being humbled by your toddler on your own birthday

My birthday today, decided to take my 3 .5 year old to a farm. All was going well, she waited in any que for feeding or touching animals, no problem. We enjoyed the activities there and the rides in the fair ground. 2 hours in, we are ready to leave. She asks to sit on this Peppa pig car near the entrance which you put coins in, I told her yes aslong as it's available as it had become rather busy. We got there and another girl was already on, I said perhaps you can ask to join her (it's 2 seats) the girl said yes kindly. But my daughter wanted to sit in the seat she was in, I explained how she can sit next to the girl or you can wait once she's finished. This ended in tears, then she saw another ride on bus, she went on it for a few seconds but still was asking about the Peppa pig one. I could still see it was very busy. So I said we will leave now and go elsewhere walking to the car park. Then soon as was in the carpark she refused to moved and started screaming and crying. I had to pick her up for safety as was walking through the carpark. Ofcourse this made it worse, she was screaming at the top of her lungs. I felt like the few families that were in the car park at their cars were all watching. I got my daughter in the car do her seat belt she starts screaming "owe" even though I couldn't see what was hurting her. She was still screaming. I felt the looks became heavier. Then I drove out in tears. It was such a lovely morning up until that point. Just feel like a failure of a mother ☹️

The looks were probably from sympathy and I’m glad that’s not us right now, but I bet it will be later, or has already been today! You didn’t do anything wrong, kids get upset about things, but you can’t hang around forever, sometimes you just have to keep going while they scream. Xx

Totally normal and been here so many times. Honestly 3 year olds can lose it over the littlest things- doesn’t make you a bad parent. And sometimes I end up crying in response too! It’s not easy being a parent

Toddlers are completely irrational...one minute they're having a meltdown and the next they'll be back being delightful like nothing has ever happened. I know it's hard but try to take it with a pinch of salt as it sounded like you had such a lovely day up until that point. One bad moment doesn't spoil a whole day. Happy birthday ❤️

Happy Birthday. Enjoy the rest of your day ❤

Happy birthday mama, you’re doing a great job ❤️

Thank you to all of you lovely ladies 🫶🏼

honestly if it happens in public i’ll look over to the kim just to make sure she didn’t drop anything or needs help or something because i know those situations are flustered and packing

Threenagers...
