When do you start weaning your baby

Not until 6 months. X

That’s what I’ve been told but I’ve also been reading that if you baby if interested in food then weaning earlier may be what they need didn’t know if anyone else had experienced that

@Kearnie My baby is literally only 13 weeks and watches me eat all the time, she’s grabbing at everything at the moment including my food at times but that’s no way to say they’re ready, babies like to watch what people do and when they learn to grab they love to try and grab, especially things that their parents have. Not just that you need to make sure they’re showing all signs of being ready; full head control & sitting up. Being interested in food is one of the first steps but they need to be able to sit unassisted and have complete head control before weaning, ideally they need to have good hand-eye coordination too, especially for baby led weaning

Yep baby is more interested in what you are doing they don’t have a clue what FOOD is. I wouldn’t do it till 6 months plus x

Current advice is 6 months. Some people wean earlier as the advice in the past was 4 months and family members may say this. The justification is that their digestive system is not fully developed till then and this is not something that can be observed with the "ready" signs. There's also nothing wrong with waiting a bit longer than that if baby is not ready

Thank you that’s what’s happened family members have said she looks like she’s ready for food as they weaned as early as 3-4 months but I didn’t feel comfortable doing it until 6 months xx

We started baby porridge (very milky!) at five months with my first, when he was sitting unaided and showed other signs of being ready. We then moved to pureed/BLW over the next few months.

I'm going to start introducing foods at 4 months. I've bought it all so it's ready. I'm hoping it'll help her put the weight on though. Since we are still struggling with her weight and we've tried everything with the medical professions as they're just as puzzled as we are 🤷‍♀️
