Induction with balloon

Hi, I'm looking for some stories/ experiences of being induced using the balloon method. I have been induced before using the pessary which was fine, I stayed in hospital from when they inserted the first pessary (it took 3 days in total) However this time they have advised they will be using the balloon and I will go home until the next day after the balloon is inserted. The thought of that terrifies me, I've read online that having the balloon in longer than 7 hours can prolong labour but my hospital have said to have it in up to 24 hours?? So please any advice, stories or anything I should be asking the hospital who be really appreciated. My mind has turned to mush thinking about this

I had mine in for 12 hours, but know people who’ve had one in for 24. I didn’t go home in between however, I stayed on a ward. My balloon only dilated me an extra 1cm in 12 hours.

@Bec I was 1cm dilated on Tuesday when I had my sweep. I'm absolutely terrified of being sent home and having to go straight back in or my waters breaking soon after etc. I don't drive either so I'm getting the bus to and from the hospital for the balloon, not sure how good of sn idea that is going to be 😅
