@Kate I hope so too! They're so funny at this age, and starting to show their personalities. It's easy to forget they're still developing a lot! I still wonder why sleep cycle transition would make them cry. Such a funny thing 🥲
Babies don’t have nightmares as they haven’t had the life experience or imagination to. Some smile are wind and I read some smiles are them thinking about being with there mum and hearing her heart beat because there the comfort. Babies can’t control there facial expressions so they will pull funny faces when asleep and also trying to connect sleep cycles. At 3-4 month babies can experience sleep regression, teething, separation anxiety, reflux and colic. My nearly 4 month old is very much teething and is in lots of pain and he’s also in a sleep regression. Every time I lay him in his bed he wakes up straight away and this happens all night. He then ends up sleeping on my chest so I can just get some sort of rest (he currently on my chest as I right this! 🤦🏻♀️😂) he also smiles a lot to in his sleep or laughs.
So glad you've posted this as my husband and I have the same conversation! Our son goes from one moment smiling in his sleep to then pulling some very unhappy faces and sometimes letting out a little cry. I read somewhere that it can be the change between one sleep cycle and the next so I'm hoping it's just that and not unpleasant dreams x
