Weight

We had an appointment with our pediatrician yesterday and she basically said he’s underweight. He’s in the 23% for weight I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get him to gain? He eats constantly here’s a rundown of foods he’s clearing off his plate this week Eggs and toast Cheese Ham and sausage Pasta (spaghetti and I make buttered noodles with peas and carrots) Chicken nuggets and fries Manicotti Mash potatoes Oatmeal Cereal Fruits (blueberry strawberry oranges peaches) That’s just what I can think of he’s had the past week. Not to mention the snacks I’m just needing help cause I didn’t see a problem with his weight but she made it seem like a big deal and now I feel like I’m not doing all I can. He’s still not super big on eating meats so those are a no

What’s his weight if you don’t mind sharing? My girl has always been in a lower percentile but there has been no concern at this age. (She’s 20-22lbs) Hardly will eat meat Went to dietitian and they said she’s getting all the nutrients she needs for her body! All babies are different! If they’re eating I don’t think it should be a concern

My son is lower as well. Our doc wasn't worried. Her biggest concern was nutrients. My husband and I are both small so we already figured he wouldn't be a big weight gainer

Some babies are just small so long as he’s keeping on his growth chart line he’s fine. My son is also super tiny and at first the pediatrician told me to add more fats and dairy because she was worried about his weight but we had to be dairy free for most of the year because he had an allergy and now his new pediatrician isn’t worried because she’s staying on his percentile growth chart even though he’s smaller than other babies.

My daughters weight percentile dropped a little bit and she said she wasn't concerned but she said protein helps them gain weight the most and stuff like yogurt and cheese. Her weight percentile has always went up and down and I've always been really small. She was 10 lbs 3 oz when she was born so I thought it would probably drop

My son has been in the 5% for weight since he was born, he has also always been in the 4% for height. He is completely healthy, just a little small.

Did it drop from like 40th to 23rd? Or has he always tracked in the 20s?

@Taylor he’s always been 20-30 there’s was 1 times only where he was in the 40s

@Messina he’s 24 exactly

@Lissa I wouldn’t worry about it then. My baby had a lot of dips in the beginning and my understanding was they just wanted her on a regular curve. The problem is is when they jump up and down all the time. If he’s always been on the 20 to 30% curve then I would let it be especially if he’s eating good. That’s just his natural rate of weight gain. And if your ped makes you feel worried about that I would get a second opinion because I’ve seen a few different pediatricians especially when my little girl is going through actual drops in her curve. They just want them on a steady curve. Sounds like he’s on a steady curve and eating good.

My baby is 23 pounds and her doctor was fine with her weight, is your baby tall?

@Sarah he’s not tall at all but I’m not even 5ft
