Yeah mine was that price but they've just sent my renewal documents which they've calculated as £33.19 each month as it's gone up x
I'm with tesco - we have a dog. She has to be on medication for the rest of her life for dermatitis and we have never had an issue with them paying the money out. Her insurance costs me £35/month (she does have the maximum cover as she is spoilt). Her medication is £90 a month which they cover minus the £150 excess per year x
Tesco. We were with agria and were paying over £50 a month for our Maine coon. Whether renewal came through it had went to £72 and they said they couldn’t reduce it because he’s getting older. We tried Tesco and getting almost the same level of cover for around £30 a month. Depending on their breed and the type of cover you want you will be better off with Tesco xx
We’re with animal friends, paying around £15pm however not had to use them at all so far, so can’t really comment on how good they are. It does come with an app that gives you access to vets 24/7 for free advice if there is anything ring with your pet, I think it’s called Joii xx
Vet nurse here. All I can say about insurance is be careful when switching insurers. Anything your pet has been seen for/treated by a vet, no matter how minor it may seem, insurance companies will class it as a pre existing condition and will not cover for this, or anything that could possibly be linked (trust me, they will try and link anything to get out of paying!). Sometimes shopping around for a cheaper monthly deal can leave you paying more in the future 🤷🏼♀️
We use Tesco and they have always been really good at paying out. Have you tried calling pet plan to see if they can do it cheaper (they usually can 😂)?
Hi everyone thank you for your input, I only just got the renewal documents so I will call them in the morning to see if they can reduce the price. @Lucy thank you for this and I was actually reading about this yesterday. Funnily enough as I was trying to understand it. One of my cats did go in for surgery last year and I saved a huge chunk of money, the only problem was if she has to go back in I don't want them classing that as a pre existing condition. I will call tomorrow and see what they say if not I'll check with Tesco's to see if I can get a better rate Thank you ladies x
Just be aware that if your cat had surgery for say something on her leg then a lot of insurers won’t cover anything to do with legs. So ask them what exclusions will be before signing up. Personally having four dogs and making the mistake of moving two away from Petplan I won’t be doing that again. Their premiums don’t go up half as much as some do especially if you have to claim
Thank you, I've realised that as my cat had lymp nodes, and some of her organs were infused together, ear infection and a few other other complications. But it's all sorted now, but you're right I've called Petpan and managed to get the price down so it's reasonable
I use pet plan, still £27.99 for me, got two cats x
