Baby crying during weaning but loves food and keeps opening his mouth for more!!

LO is 6 months and we’ve just started weaning on purées. So far, he loves the food we’re offering and keeps opening his mouth for more but he keeps crying during the meal! The only time he doesn’t cry is when he can see there is a spoonful of food about to go in his mouth. Surely he’s not crying because he wants more of that food, when we’ve only just started weaning the past few days?? Is it just out of confusion/frustration? Has anyone else been through something similar?

Following because my boy does the same but there’s no tears, to me it seems he’s just finding his voice and is a bit confused by what’s going on but not entirely sure , also sits with mouth wide open trying to pull the spoon for more 🫣

When are you giving him purees? Before a feed after a feed? In the middle of feeds? If my baby cries it's usually because I've reminded him he's hungry and he wants a bottle. Or sometimes it's out of frustration because he wants to feed him self have u tried loading up the spoon and giving it to him to put in his own mouth? Also sometimes he cries purely just because he doesn't like the taste. When u put the spoon in his mouth does he chew on the spoon and cry when you take it out? If they do this it's probably more likely that they just want to chew on the spoon rather then actually have the food. Could be a sign that they aren't ready for food quite yet if they are just more interested in eating the spoon, holding there mouth open could also be just because they want to chew on the spoon not because they want more food it's a natural reflex x

Maybe you’re going too slow for him?

How many days have you been offering and has it been like this since the very first spoonful?
