What to wear?

Hey everyone!! So I start at a SEN primary school tomorrow as a TA! The only thing is, I’ve got no idea on what to wear, I’ve got blouses, nice pants and blazers but I’ve heard that SEN schools are usually a bit lenient. I don’t want to turn up fully dressed to the nines if that’s not whats usually worn 🤣 Thank you!!

My friend works at a sen school she does wear like nice cardis and stuff like that but she also wears gym stuff abit more casual

I'd err on the side of too smart on your first day, better to be a bit smarter than everyone else than a bit casual! You can then gauge what everyone else is wearing and adjust accordingly

I'd probably go with a cardi rather than a blazer to make it a bit more casual. I've only supplied in one or two SEN schools but they were quite casual like you've said 😊 hope you have a good first day

Hi I used to work at a SEN school and it’s more informal than mainstream. I would go cardi or jumper with black trousers and some sort of comfy shoes but that look a bit smarter just for the first day. You will get a feel of how informal it is as I think they vary. I used to wear jeans, sports clothes and trainers and during the summer even shorts!

I know is not an answer to the question but how do you get into TA? I’d love to change careers!
